Clare Cey

Clare is a freshman in college at the Catholic University of America studying Politics and Theology. She competed in the NCFCA for 6 years through middle and high school in a wide variety of speech categories, but her favorites have been her platform on the importance and impact of public libraries, which won a regional tournament, and her Digital Presentation on the American political system, which won 7th at the 2021 Online National Championship. She qualified to the National Championship in Team Policy Debate four years in a row. She received 4 top-10 placings at the National Championship, and overall more than 20 top-5 placings in 7 different speech and debate categories, including placing 2nd in Team Policy Debate at the 2021 NCFCA National Championship, and 3rd at the 2023 NCFCA Moot Court National Championship.

Joshua Xu

Joshua Xu is a Junior Economics major with a minor in Math at Grove City College. He competed in highschool speech and debate for 5 years. At the 2021 Stoa National Championship, he took 6th place in Team Policy and 5th place in Team Policy Speaks. In 2022, he took first place Team Policy Speaker and second in Extemp NCFCA’s North Carolina open qualifier. Now in college, he competes in Parliamentary style debate winning two national championships in his time at Grove City College. Joshua believes debate ought to be about truth seeking and prioritizes having a strong understanding of both sides rather than arguing for the sake of arguing.

Jacob Johnson

Jacob Johnson is a personal speaking coach specializing in persuasive speaking and interpretive events. He competed in the NCFCA for 7 years, and in 2019 won the National Championship in two different categories: Persuasive Speaking, and Duo Interpretive with his parter Caleb Johnson. Jacob holds the belief that everyone has something important to share with the world, and is passionate about helping them achieve the ability to communicate it with excellence in front of an audience.

He is currently a leading sales expert at the largest tech distributor for a major US carrier, where he has been asked to speak on sales strategies and product analysis.


Ben Brown

Ben Brown is currently pursuing a dual major in mathematics and economics at Hillsdale College. As the manager of Hillsdale's debate team, he has led the team to success across multiple collegiate circuits, including NPDA and CARD, with victories in both policy and parliamentary debate tournaments. During high school, Ben competed in the NCFCA, where he accrued over a dozen tournament wins in various speech and debate events, including clinching 1st place in Team Policy at the 2022 National Championship. He believes that the key to success in speech and debate lies in enjoying the process, a philosophy he actively instills in his students.
